Recording & Storage

Why is my recording missing or still processing?

Last updated July 24, 2026

After a stream ends, your recording goes through a short processing pipeline before it appears in your library. If you do not see it right away, it is usually still processing.

Normal processing stages

A recording may show one of these statuses before it is ready:

  • Recording β€” the session is still live.
  • Stitching... β€” short reconnects during the stream are being merged into one continuous file.
  • Encoding... β€” the file is being prepared for playback.
  • Uploading... β€” the finished file is being saved to cloud storage.
  • Ready β€” the recording is available to watch, download, or restream.

You may also see Failed, or gated badges such as Over Storage, Over Plan Length, and Plan Downgraded. Processing usually takes a few minutes; long recordings take longer.

When to wait

  • Give the recording a few minutes after the stream ends before you assume it is missing.
  • Long recordings take longer β€” wait a bit more for multi-hour streams before contacting support.

When to contact support

If a recording still has not appeared after a longer wait, or if it shows Failed, contact support with:

  • your account email
  • the stream title and approximate start time
  • any error message you see
Good to know: If your stream briefly disconnected and reconnected, ApexStream tries to stitch the segments into one recording. A short gap may still remain if the disconnect lasted too long.
