What format and resolution are recordings?

ApexStream recordings are saved in a standard format that works with most video editors, podcast tools, and social platforms.

Recording format

  • Container: MP4
  • Video codec: H.264
  • Audio codec: AAC

This means your recordings will play in almost any video player and can be uploaded directly to YouTube, Facebook, or other platforms without conversion.

Resolution and quality

Recordings are saved at the same resolution and bitrate you streamed. ApexStream does not re-encode the file, so the quality matches your live broadcast.

  • If you streamed at 1080p, your recording is 1080p.
  • If you streamed at 720p, your recording is 720p.
  • If your plan supports 4K and you streamed at 4K, your recording is 4K.

Audio

Audio is recorded as a stereo AAC track at the sample rate your stream used. For Facebook, the platform requires 44.1 kHz; for other destinations, 48 kHz is used.

Good to know: Because the recording is not re-encoded, any frame drops or quality issues in the live stream will also appear in the recording.
