Use your phone as an extra camera (Companion mode)
Companion mode lets you turn a phone or tablet into an additional camera and scene controller for your Web Studio broadcast. It joins the same way a guest does, so it uses one guest seat.
Set up Companion mode
- In Web Studio, open the Sources panel in the sidebar.
- Click Use phone as camera.
- A QR code and a shareable link appear. Scan the code with your phone's camera app, or copy the link and open it in your phone's browser.
- On your phone, tap Use Phone as Camera to start sending video and audio.
Controls on your phone
- Switch Camera β toggle between the front and rear cameras.
- Microphone β mute or unmute the phone's mic.
- Camera Feed β turn the phone's video on or off.
- Studio Layout β switch the studio layout between Grid, Solo, and Split.
Positioning the phone feed
Once the phone is connected, it appears as a participant/source in Web Studio. The host can add it to any layout, move it, resize it, or hide it like any other video source.
Good to know: Companion mode uses one guest seat, even when only the camera is active. On the Free plan that counts toward your 5-guest limit; on paid plans it counts toward the 10-guest limit.
