Guest setup & device check

When your guest opens the invite link, they land on a pre-flight screen where they can check their camera and microphone before joining your session. This helps avoid surprises once they are live.

What your guest sees

  1. Camera preview β€” a live preview of their selected camera.
  2. Microphone meter β€” a moving bar that shows their mic is picking up sound.
  3. Device selectors β€” dropdowns to choose a different camera or microphone if they have more than one.
  4. Display name β€” a field where they enter the name you will see in the studio.
  5. Join as Guest β€” the button they click once they are ready.

What to tell your guest before they join

  • Use the latest version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari.
  • Close unused browser tabs and applications to free up memory.
  • Use a quiet room. Background noise makes it harder for the audience to hear them.
  • Wear headphones if possible β€” this prevents echo.

If a device is not working

  • Make sure no other app is currently using the camera or microphone.
  • Refresh the page and allow browser permissions when prompted.
  • Try selecting a different device from the dropdown.
  • If the problem persists, send them a new invite link and have them rejoin.

Good to know: Guests do not need an ApexStream account or any downloaded software. The entire experience runs in their browser.
