Edit your episode: the audio editor
The Editor lets you edit your episode by editing its transcript β cut audio by deleting words, instead of hunting for the right spot on a waveform.
Open the editor
From Episodes, click the scissors icon on any episode to open it in the Editor. If your episode doesn't have a transcript yet, click Transcribe Audio to generate a word-level transcript automatically.
Edit by editing the words
- Click and drag across words to select them, then press Delete or Backspace to cut that audio. Cut words appear struck through in the transcript rather than disappearing.
- Nothing is destroyed as you go β hover over a cut word and click Restore to bring it back, or use Restore All to undo every cut in one click.
- Undo and Redo (Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z) work throughout your editing session.
- Click any word to jump playback to that point in the audio.
Label your speakers
Each block of dialogue is grouped under a speaker header:
- Click a speaker's name to open its menu, then choose Rename Speaker to relabel it, or Assign Color to give that speaker a distinct color throughout the transcript.
- Shift+click a word to split the block into a new speaker starting at that word β handy when a speaker label is grouping together lines from two different people.
Quick cleanups
The Magic Fixes row above the transcript gives you one-click cleanup tools β Remove Fillers, Shorten Silences, and Clean Audio β for tidying up your episode without editing word by word. These are covered in more detail in a separate article.
Good to know: Because editing here is non-destructive, cutting words only changes what's included when you export or publish the episode β you can always restore a cut word before then.
