Add chapters to your episode

Chapters let listeners skip to specific sections of your podcast episode. In Podcast Studio you can generate chapters with AI or add them manually, then export a Podcast 2.0 chapters file.

Who can use chapters

You can add and edit chapters manually on any plan that includes Podcast Studio. AI-generated chapters are available on Creator, Scale, and Enterprise.

Add chapters manually

1. Open an episode in Podcast Studio.
2. Open the Show Notes & Chapters panel on the right.
3. Click Add Chapter under the Chapters section.
4. Enter the chapter title and timestamp.
5. The chapter is saved automatically after you finish editing.

Generate chapters with AI

1. In the Show Notes & Chapters panel, click Auto-Generate Notes.
2. The AI analyzes the transcript and creates suggested chapters along with show notes.
3. Review the generated chapters, edit titles and timestamps, and delete any you don't want.

Export chapters

1. Once your chapters are set, click Export Podcast 2.0 in the Chapters section.
2. A chapters.json file is generated and uploaded to your CDN.
3. Copy the URL and add it to your podcast RSS feed or hosting platform that supports Podcast 2.0 chapters.

Good to know: AI-generated chapters are based on the episode transcript. If the transcript hasn't finished generating yet, the Auto-Generate Notes button will be disabled until transcription is complete.
