AI access permissions explained
Last updated July 24, 2026
When you create an AI access token, you choose permissions one by one. This page explains each option in plain language.
Availability and safety: AI access is available only on Creator, Scale, and Enterprise. Free and Hobby accounts cannot create or use MCP tokens and must upgrade to Creator or higher. The feature is not live in production yet and is being prepared for a closed internal trial. An eligible paid plan alone does not enable access. This version is read-only and uses only the permissions you select; it cannot expose stream keys or platform secrets, change settings, or start a broadcast. Account data requested by a connected AI app may be sent to your chosen AI provider, so connect only tools you trust.
Available permissions
| Permission | What the assistant may do | What it does not include |
|---|---|---|
| Account status | See your plan name and whether the account is active | Email address, password, payment card |
| Streams | List encoder stream setups and live / offline status | Stream keys, ingest passwords, Studio secrets |
| Destinations | See platform names, channel labels, and on/off state | RTMP URLs, destination stream keys, OAuth tokens |
| Analytics | Read totals such as views and stream time over a date range | Individual viewer identities, chat, geo of viewers |
| Help links | Open official help articles and safe dashboard deep links | Ability to change settings on those pages for you |
Least privilege
Give each AI app the smallest set it needs. Example:
- A helper that only answers βAm I live?β needs Streams (and maybe Account status).
- A weekly performance summary needs Analytics.
- An assistant that only points you to the right screen needs Help links.
You can always create another token later with different permissions.
Hard limits (all tokens)
No matter which boxes you check, AI access never returns:
- Stream keys or encoder secrets
- Destination keys or social login tokens
- Live chat, captions, or transcripts
- Billing write actions (upgrade, refund, delete account)
- Go-live / stop-stream control in this version
Good to know: Stream titles and destination names can contain text someone else set. Treat anything an assistant quotes from titles as data, not as instructions to follow blindly.
