AI Access (MCP)

What is AI access (MCP)?

Last updated July 24, 2026

AI access (MCP) lets a trusted AI assistant check parts of your ApexStream account — such as whether you are live, which destinations are on, and basic analytics — without receiving your stream keys or platform logins.

Availability and safety: AI access is available only on Creator, Scale, and Enterprise. Free and Hobby accounts cannot create or use MCP tokens and must upgrade to Creator or higher. The feature is not live in production yet and is being prepared for a closed internal trial. An eligible paid plan alone does not enable access. This version is read-only and uses only the permissions you select; it cannot expose stream keys or platform secrets, change settings, or start a broadcast. Account data requested by a connected AI app may be sent to your chosen AI provider, so connect only tools you trust.

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. You can think of it as a named, limited remote control you hand to an AI app. You choose the permissions, you can revoke access any time, and ApexStream only answers the tools you allowed.

What you can use it for

With AI access enabled on your account, you can:

  • Ask “Am I live?” or “List my destinations” from Claude Desktop, Cursor, or another MCP-capable app
  • Check usage and plan status without opening every dashboard page
  • Get safe links back into Settings, Billing, or Stream Setup when you need to act yourself

What it is not

AI access in this version is read-only. It does not:

  • Start or stop your broadcast for you
  • Connect YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, or other platforms
  • Change billing or delete your account
  • Show stream keys, destination keys, or live chat

Those actions stay in the ApexStream dashboard or Web Studio.

Where it lives in the product

Open Settings → Developer. The AI access (MCP) section is where you create tokens, pick permissions, review activity, and disable access for your whole account if needed.

Good to know: While the feature is not live, New token will remain unavailable. After the closed internal trial begins, eligible Creator, Scale, and Enterprise accounts can contact support@apexstream.co about trial access. Support and rollout cannot override the Free and Hobby plan restriction.
