Stream vertical (9:16) for Reels, Shorts & TikTok
Last updated July 24, 2026
Vertical streaming outputs a 9:16 portrait feed, which is the native format for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. ApexStream supports it on the Creator plan and above.
Enable vertical output
- Enter Web Studio.
- Open the Scenes panel.
- In the Output control, select Portrait (9:16).
- The canvas resizes to a tall frame.
- Arrange your camera, guests, and overlays to fit the vertical space.
Output orientation cannot be changed while your stream is live.
Compose for vertical
- Keep faces near the top third of the frame.
- Avoid putting important graphics too close to the edges.
- Use vertical-friendly layouts like full-camera or split stacked top-to-bottom.
Connect vertical destinations
When you add Instagram or TikTok as destinations, enable the Crop to 9:16 Vertical option. ApexStream will send a portrait feed to those platforms while keeping your other destinations in landscape if needed.
Good to know: Portrait streaming is unlocked on the Creator, Scale, and Enterprise plans. Free and Hobby plans are landscape only.
