I hear an echo in Web Studio
Echo happens when your microphone picks up audio coming out of your speakers. Work through these checks to find the source.
Check these, in order
Are your speakers on? If your computer speakers are loud enough, your microphone will hear them and send the sound back. Use headphones instead.
Is a guest causing the echo? If the echo only appears when a specific guest is on stage, that guest is likely using speakers. Ask them to switch to headphones or earbuds.
Do you have the stream playing in another tab? If you are watching your own stream on YouTube, Facebook, or Twitch while broadcasting, the platform's delay creates an echo. Mute those tabs or close them.
Is your microphone too close to your speakers? Even built-in laptop speakers can cause echo if the mic is nearby. Lower the speaker volume or move farther away.
If the echo continues
- Ask everyone in the session to mute except one person.
- Have that person speak while others listen.
- Repeat for each participant until you find whose setup is causing the echo.
Good to know: Web Studio has built-in echo cancellation, but the best fix is always to use headphones during a broadcast.
