How destinations work in ApexStream

A "destination" is any platform ApexStream sends your live stream to β€” YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, a custom RTMP server, and so on. Here's how connecting, enabling, and plan limits work together.

Two ways to connect a destination

  • Sign in once. YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch connect with a single sign-in. In your dashboard, open Integrations, click the platform's tile, sign in, and approve the permissions it asks for. ApexStream then adds your channel automatically, or lets you pick which one to use if it finds more than one on your account.
  • Add manually with a key. LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, and X each have their own tile too, but instead of a sign-in screen they open a form where you paste in the server URL and stream key from that platform's own live-streaming settings. Any other RTMP- or SRT-compatible service can be added the same way with the Custom RTMP or Custom SRT tile. Stream keys are encrypted before they're stored, so ApexStream never keeps them in plain text.

Turning destinations on and off

Every connected destination has a switch on the Integrations page. Only the destinations switched on are included the next time you go live β€” you can stay connected to more destinations than you actually use for a given broadcast and just toggle the ones you need.

How many can be live at once

Your plan sets the limit on simultaneous destinations: Free 2, Hobby 3, Creator 5, Scale 8, Enterprise 50. If you try to switch on a destination beyond that limit, ApexStream blocks it and prompts you to either turn another one off or upgrade.

Managing a destination

From the Integrations page you can edit a destination's name and connection details (using the pencil icon), or fully remove it at any time.

Good to know: Connecting a destination and having it live are two different things. You can stay connected to more destinations than your plan allows to be live at once, and simply switch off the ones you don't need for each broadcast.
