Add a countdown timer

Last updated July 24, 2026

A countdown timer is a great way to build anticipation before a scheduled stream starts. You can add one as an on-screen overlay in Web Studio.

Add a countdown overlay

  1. Enter Web Studio.
  2. Open the Graphics panel from the right-hand sidebar.
  3. Expand Countdown Timer.
  4. Set how many minutes the countdown should run (presets or custom minutes).
  5. Pick a style, add an optional custom message or pre-show background, and click Start.
  6. The timer appears on your canvas and in the live output. Click Stop to end it.

Customize the look

You can adjust:

  • the duration in minutes
  • the timer style (such as Cinematic, Clock, Minimal, Bold, or Terminal)
  • a custom two-line message
  • a pre-show background image

Color, font, position, and hour display options are not separate controls.

When to use it

  • Starting soon screen before you go live.
  • Breaks between segments.
  • Counting down to a special announcement or giveaway.
Good to know: The countdown is burned into the broadcast, so viewers on every platform see the same timer.
