Stream health: bitrate, FPS & dropped frames
The stream health panel shows how your outgoing video is performing. It is available on the Hobby plan and above; Free plans see a locked preview.
What the metrics mean
- Bitrate β how much data you are sending, measured in kilobits per second (kbps). It should stay close to the value you set.
- Frame Rate (FPS) β how many video frames are sent each second. A stable 30 fps is normal; big drops look choppy to viewers.
- Speed β how fast your stream is being delivered relative to real time. A value around 1.0x is ideal.
Where to find stream health
- Open an active stream in your dashboard.
- Look for the Real-Time Telemetry or Stream Health panel.
- The panel updates every few seconds while you are live.
What to do if health is poor
- Low bitrate warning β your upload bandwidth may be insufficient. Lower your resolution or bitrate, or switch to a wired connection.
- Dropping frames β your computer may be overloaded or your network is unstable. Close unused apps and tabs.
- Speed below 1.0x β your stream is falling behind. Reduce your bitrate or restart on a more stable network.
Good to know: A short spike or dip is normal. Only worry if a metric stays bad for more than 30 seconds.
